About Our Practice

DeAnna graduated in 1989 from Graceland College with her BSN. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the PCU at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City and the PCU at St Vincent in Santa Fe, NM. She later worked in the ICU and medical units in New Mexico and Missouri. She returned to Kansas City, did home health with intravenous infusions, and eventually worked in multiple emergency departments throughout Kansas City. She has experience in surgery, radiology, and developed intravenous peripherally inserted central lines (PICC) programs at two hospitals in Missouri. After 22 years in nursing, DeAnna returned to Central Missouri State University, earning her degree in  Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2011 and Received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa in 2013. Since then, she has worked in emergency departments, urgent care, and in hospital medicine. She is well versed through multiple medical practices and understands patients’ needs.

DeAnna enjoys spending time with her family when she is not working, camping at different lakes, and traveling.

Beyond personal milestones DeAnna envisioned an environment where patients weren’t mere statistics but individuals with unique needs deserving personalized care. The limitations of insurance-based models, with their rigid protocols and impersonal approach, fueled her frustration. The “X-ray before MRI” scenario, like most insurance require, exemplified the disconnect between prescribed procedures and individual circumstances, potentially causing harm instead of healing.

Operating outside the traditional insurance framework allows Whole Health and Wellness practitioners who advocate for their patients. While patients can submit billing receipts to their insurance companies, potentially contributing towards deductibles, Whole Health and Wellness empowers patients to engage in their healthcare actively, encouraging the utilization of HSAs for proactive care.

Whole Health and Wellness is in the process of accepting Medicare and Medicaid as well as other insurances. Whole Health and Wellness also will see patients without insurance.
